ATV riding conditions on the Soo Line, Red Top Loop (class 2 machines) and Foxy Loop (class 1 only and 1 way)  are excelent.  

GOLF CARTS on the Soo Line ?

 AUTHORIZED USES, SHORT PERMIT IS REQUIRED for Mille Lacs County use of a Golf Cart on the Soo Line trails basically Onamia to Isle.   

A motorized golf carts may now use the Soo Line Trail from April 1st to November 30th of each year, provided the following conditions are met:

  1. Motorized golf carts are operated in single file fashion as close as practical to the right-hand edge of the trail, and off of the paved path where applicable.

  2. The number of occupants does not exceed the design occupant load.

  3. The operator holds a valid driver’s license recognized by the State of Minnesota to permit the operation of motor vehicles.

  4. The motorized golf cart has current liability vehicle insurance that complies with the provisions of MN Statute 65B.48 and the driver carried proof of that.

SHORT- OR LONG-TERM SPECIAL PERMITS. Special Short Term permits for authorized uses described in Provision 203 shall be issued by the Soo Line Trail Administrator, pursuant to guidelines established by the County Board and additional conditions deemed necessary by the Soo Line Trail Administrator to maintain the safety of trail users and the integrity of trail infrastructure. Permits issued for motorized golf cart use pursuant to Provision 203 (4) shall be valid for three years from the date of issuance.

To obtain a golf cart permit for the Soo Line Trail in Mille Lacs County, you must apply for a Short Term Special Permit through the Mille Lacs County Public Works Department. Golf cart permits issued for the trail are valid for three years and cost $60.00.

Our Club

Our  Snowmobile & ATV Club consists of getting together on a regular basis in order to share ideas and enjoy activities based on our common interests. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit club established in 1970 and maintain approximately 106 miles of trails year round. The Mille Lacs Drift Skippers Snowmobile and ATV Club promotes and encourages riders of all levels, equipment and ages.

Our trails are maintained by volunteer members helping out. If you’re interested in joining, or would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the volunteer coordinator to be directed to the appropriate person or attend any meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm.
